How does the plate checker work?
You type what you'd like the plate to read - a name, word, initials, or exact registration. We instantly search our 82,000+ in-stock plates using visual substitution logic (so a search for BOSS also finds BO55) and name variant intelligence (OLIVER finds OLLIE, OLI and OLE). If nothing matches, we tell you and offer to source from our wider network.
Is checking a plate free?
Yes - and we never ask for details upfront. You only share contact information if you want us to source a plate we don't currently stock. Every enquiry is read personally, not routed through a bot.
What if the plate I want is already on a car?
Plates currently assigned to a vehicle aren't available through the normal transfer register. We can approach the registered keeper on your behalf if it's a genuine priority for you - this is a proper concierge service, not an auto-bid tool. Typical success rate is around 1 in 5 at a fair price.
Do you check DVLA auctions too?
Yes. When you ask us to source a plate, we search DVLA's retention register, their monthly timed auctions (see our auction calendar), and our 40+ dealer network simultaneously.
How long does a DVLA plate transfer take once purchased?
Most online transfers complete within 1-2 working days. We handle the V750 or V778 paperwork end-to-end and keep you updated until the plate is officially assigned. Read more in our DVLA transfer guide.
